Issue 5 Preview – Portrait Retouching

TOC Pat David Tut Preview

There are many powerful F/OSS (free and open source software) tools that can be used for professional level photo retouching, GIMP being one of them. GIMP is more than capable of handling tasks that high level retouching requires. It even includes some capabilities that don’t exist in commercial software. This tutorial focuses on portrait retouching using a combination of RawTherapee, GIMP, and an incredibly useful plugin—Wavelet Decompose.

WIN A FREE COPY OF THE NEW DESKTOP PUBLISHING COURSE

Did you know that we use GIMP, Inkscape and Scribus to publish GIMP Magazine?  I will be giving away a free copy of the new Desktop Publishing Course.  Here is how it works: I will randomly draw from the list of people who have made a donation (min. $5.00) to GIMP Magazine in 2013.  This is our way of giving back to those who have helped us along the way.  If you want a chance to win, simply donate before the draw takes place.  The draw will take place on Saturday December 14th at 12 noon EST, and the winner will be announced via twitter, and emailed a digital download link to the course.
