Date: Wednesday September 5, 2012
Time: 10:00PM EST
The date has been announced! GIMP Magazine will be launched on Wednesday September 5, 2012. This will be the start of something truly cool! To celebrate the launch of this brand new publication we are hosting a launch party, and everyone is invited! And it’s FREE!
GIMP is an amazing image editing software package similar to Adobe® Photoshop®, but licensed as free and open source for the Mac, PC, and Linux operating systems. The latest version of GIMP (2.8) has been downloaded over 6.5 Million times in just two months, so this is a huge community of skilled and passionate users.
GIMP Magazine features the amazing works created from this world wide community. Photography, digital arts, graphic arts, web design, tips & tricks, step by step tutorials, master classes, help desk questions, product reviews and so much more are showcased and explored in this quarterly publication. This publication is available for free and is licensed Creative Commons CC-AT-SA 2.5.
GIMP Magazine launches to the world on September 5, 2012 when people can:
- Download the magazine from our website http://gimpmagazine.org
- Attend our Launch Party at 10:00PM EST
The fine folks at Dyscultured.com, a Canadian Technology Podcast, plan to interview the GIMP Magazine team LIVE to the interwebs. GIMP Magazine staff will be available in the chat all night to answer your questions, gauge your reactions to Issue #1 and mark down your suggestions for future issues! Just remember to BYOB! LOL 🙂
Just visit our website on September 5th and all the details will be available then.
We want to sincerely thank everyone who has helped to spread the word about this thus far. Please continue this by retweeting this, resharing this on Google+, and simply tell your friends – tell everyone!
P.S. The Dyscultured chat supports IRC and is powered by open source mibbit. (the Dyscultured crew are pro open source, pro creative commons, and are way cool people!) Download some of their previous PodCasts . . . and have fun with some Canadians eh!
